DAY 1: KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO ARUSHA

Welcome to Tanzania. Visit Arusha Staff will meet your family at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in the bustling small town of Arusha. For the remainder of the day, you may wish to relax and enjoy a swim in the pool. Dinner and overnight at Mount Meru Hotel or The African Tilp Hotel: Meals plan. Half Board  

DAY 2: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will be greeted with our guide who will brief you about safety in the parks whilst on safari. We will then depart for your first day of safari and make our way to the picturesque Tarangire National Park for an adventure packed day of game driving.  We will reach your accommodation in time for you and the family to settle in and enjoy a hot lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy an afternoon game drive. Tarangire National Park is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River and is characteristically known for its giant baobab tress that stretch and wind their branches into the blue sky. The most spectacular feature of Tarangire is its large elephant population. In fact, it has the largest population of any park in northern Tanzania. These gentle giants abound in excess of 3,000. Tarangire is currently experiencing and elephant baby boom and you will notice a lot of juniors and babies as members of the herd.  Also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik-dik, impala, warthog, and reedbuck. Primates you may encounter are olive baboon, vervet monkey and bush baby. Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal, dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge or Maramboi Tented Camps. Full Board

DAY 3: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, enjoy an adventure packed day of game driving in Tarangire National Park. Beside herds of elephants you can also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik-dik, impala, warthog, and reedbuck.  Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Retire to the comfort of your lodge to enjoy a sundowner while watching the kids take a swim in the pool. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge or Maramboi Tented Camps. Full Board

DAY 4: TARANGIRE – NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

This morning we will make our way to the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way you will take the opportunity to stretch your legs and take a break and spend it exploring the nearby Mto wa Mbu village. Try your hand at bargaining with the locals in the markets, pick up some authentic souvenirs or just immerse yourself in the culture. Mid-morning we continue on our way to the picturesque Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy the beautiful panoramic views as we drive up into the highlands to your accommodation. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Ngorongoro Highlands from the lodge or spend the afternoon relaxing with a massage. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge or Ngorongoro Serena Hotel. Full Board.

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CRATER

At sunrise, you descend 600 meters into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Animals that you may find in the crater include wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo and elephant. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is the dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. Tour the Lerai Forest with its yellow-barked acacias, searching for giant-tusked elephant, rare black rhino and black- mined lion.  Bird lovers can view flamingo and other species, which share the shallow waters with a big game. You may also see Maasai herdsmen and their cattle — the crater is in their territory, and the Maasai continue to coexist with wildlife as they have for centuries. Stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo pool and watch resident hippos bobbing in the river. Ascend the crater in the early afternoon and retire to the comfort of your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge or Ngorongoro Serena Hotel. Full Board.

DAY 6: NGORONGORO TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy visit a traditional Maasai village here you will be greeted by the Chief who will guide you around the nearby Boma and explain the culture of the Maasai people. After saying goodbye to the Maasai people, you will head towards the Serengeti National Park. This world famous archaeological site containing fossils of our early human ancestors thought to be over 2 million years old. Enjoy lunch en-route as you head towards the entry gate for the world famous Serengeti National Park. Tanzania’s oldest and most popular National Park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa. Dinner and overnight at Matawi Serengeti Camp.

DAY 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

This morning, embark on an optional hot air balloon ride over the boundless Serengeti plains, just as animals begin to stir. For those not enjoying a balloon safari, you may opt for an early morning game drive. At sunrise, you may encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest for the day.  Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed and extraordinary photographic opportunities will abound at this magical time of day. You have the option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch, you will continue on a game drive.  Around the time of dusk be on the lookout for lion. Cheetah can also be spotted on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are not too high. They rely on daylight and speed to catch their prey.  Hippo pods can be seen in the bigger pools and rivers while crocodiles can be seen sunning themselves on the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight at Matawi Serengeti Camp.

DAY 8: SERENGETI TO ZANZIBAR BEACHES

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Bush Top Camp before being taken to Seronera Airstrip for your connecting flight to Zanzibar. Enjoy the unique perspective of watching Africa’s wildlife from the sky as you depart for a relaxing beach break at Kilindi Zanzibar at the famous north-west coast of Zanzibar.

DAY 9 – 11: ZANZIBAR BEACHES

The North West part of Zanzibar Island is known as Nungwi. The area is renowned for its fine white sand beaches, the contrasting colors of the Indian Ocean and the beauty of the coral reef around Mnemba Island. Nungwi borders a small fishing village where local fisherman set out on a daily basis in their traditional dhows passing close to Kilindi.  The stretch of perfect beach alongside the lodge is shared only with the fishing village which is positioned on the far side of the soft sand. There are not many beaches in Zanzibar still containing only one resort and care has been taken to ensure privacy and exclusivity throughout the resort. Nungwi is just 60 minutes’ drive from Stone Town, allowing for easy day trips and excursions to the many different and varied places that characterize Zanzibar. Enjoy the next 3 nights at Kilindi, exploring or partaking in one of the many day tours this beautiful island has to offer.

DAY 12: ZANZIBAR TO JULIUS NYERERE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (DAR)

After breakfast (depending on your flight times) you will be met at the hotel by your driver who will transfer you to the Zanzibar airport for your connection flight to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) to catch your international flight back home.
